Initial focus: UPVC decking for the park home sector, with a team of just three
From our earliest days supplying UPVC decking to the park home sector, right through to becoming a trusted name for domestic decking, pergolas, fencing and balustrades, our journey has always been shaped by quality products and meaningful relationships with both our customers and suppliers.
The Inspiration Behind Lakeland Verandahs
After 15 years working in the home improvement industry, Russell was introduced to what was then a revolutionary maintenance‑free UPVC decking and balustrade system.
Much like the shift from timber to UPVC windows years earlier, the benefits were clear: no painting, no rotting, and significantly reduced maintenance. That moment laid the foundations for Lakeland Verandahs and a business built around longevity rather than short‑term fixes.
From Park Homes to Domestic Gardens
Our early focus on park homes was driven by necessity as much as opportunity. New European legislation required many sites to install fire‑rated systems, something traditional timber alternatives simply couldn’t provide. UPVC offered a compliant, durable and safer solution.
At the time, the domestic market still leaned towards cheaper timber products. Fast forward to today, and homeowners have experienced first‑hand the drawbacks of timber decking and other outdoor products and there’s now a clear shift towards UPVC and composite products, valued for their longevity and low maintenance qualities.
What Makes Lakeland Verandahs Different
Over the years, we’ve been approached by overseas composite suppliers offering significant short‑term savings. Instead, we’ve stayed loyal to proven UK UPVC extrusion companies – the same type of manufacturers trusted for windows, doors and roofline products for over 40 years.
These carefully selected suppliers consistently outperform warranties and product guarantees, giving both us and our customers genuine peace of mind. Add to that a highly experienced team, many with over five years’ service and several with more than a decade at LV.
Family at the Heart of the Business
Family has always been central to Lakeland Verandahs. Russell’s father spent over 45 years in the home improvement and building industry. Those roots provided not only experience, but the confidence and industry relationships that helped LV take shape.
Nearly 20 years on, that legacy continues. Three of Russell’s four children now work within the business across sales and installation, reinforcing Lakeland Verandahs family culture and our friendly reputation.
Our Proud Moments
We received a nomination for the BIBAs, Lancashire’s most prestigious business awards, as recently as 2025. We also volunteered for an episode of DIY SOS, providing our services to a deserving recipient.
Often our proudest moments are customers returning time and time again. Our very first park home customer has since commissioned three separate domestic decking projects, followed by a fourth at their new home. We continue to supply hundreds of decking installations each year to park homes we first worked with back in 2008.
A standout achievement has been our successful expansion into the Dubai market, which has attracted significant media attention. One highlight is our work at an iconic Dubai hotel.
The project involved installing 800m² of our Solidek product at Aura Skypool, the world’s highest 360° infinity pool, frequented by the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s just one of the many impressive projects we’ve recently completed in Dubai.
Product Development & Expansion
As Lakeland Verandahs has grown, so too has our range. What began with UPVC decking has expanded into pergolas, fencing, balustrades and more, all designed with the same principles of durability, low maintenance and thoughtful design.
With a presence also in the UAE, we are certain there will be many more opportunities to thoughtfully grow our range while staying true to the values and standards that have shaped Lakeland Verandahs from the very beginning.
